A lot of you said that you are all in… Who can honestly say that they have followed through on that? I know I fall short sometimes, but I'm slowly improving every day and making progress. It's not the same now at 62 compared to even in my 50's, and yet even more different compared to 30's and 40's. We have to adjust as we age, we might need to workout for only an hour a day, not the grueling longer workouts we did when we were younger. It's okay, you can make progress just doing a workout every day, and getting your nutrition dialed in.
The buy in is wanting to make a change… the work… but you really have to work smarter AND harder. State what you want. Create a plan to get there. Make it happen. Tim Grover says some things about being ALL IN:
I'm all in, and the picture above was certainly an early morning with a long commute driving up to Tahoe.
Now, some of this changes as we age. Everything is a give and take. As we age, we might need different and even more supplementation. My doctors are always helping me with this. We also need more downtime, more sleep, and probably need to change our workouts. Females especially have issues with hormones, including adrenal issues, and might need shorter workouts and HIIT, and it might not be a good idea to combine too many different workouts in one day. A little every day goes a long way to consistency. With age, I always take video messages like this with a little grain of salt, it applies yes, but it's not quite the "All Gas, No Brakes" as it might be for someone in their 30's. The truth is some sacrifices have to be made when you are older, and you'll find you have to divide up your time and energy differently. When you have higher standard goals, as Tim Grover says in the video, people will not understand you and you'll lose some friends. It will happen for many reasons other than time.
We have to decide what we want, then go for it making the necessary sacrifices as we go.
There was a lot of press at our Sheriff Training. It was called Unified Command training and it was various public safety agencies getting together to train on scenario's about fire and civil unrest. It was meant to help us communicate better as well as train.
What a beautiful backdrop! There was a lot of media and dignitaries who came to speak. They posted videos on Facebook on the Placer County Sheriff page. I'm not on Facebook or any other social media so I'm not able to see it there, but it doesn't matter because I was THERE.
And I was making my own ALL IN sacrifices.
The next day we had more Sheriff training, and I wasn't able to get a workout in for those two days, but I managed my calories pretty well.
We have a new way of looking at nutrition these days. Calories are KING. Anyone in the 1P App with me can ask me questions and work with me on these issues.
Friday I finally got to workout. I got a run in as well as weight training. I can't do that much too often, but I got home early that evening and rested. I like to look at the calories burned only to help me realize if I need to eat up closer to TDEE, it's probably still a deficit!
At our range training, a picture of both Randy and I in a little shooting contest, I'm reminded that I must keep going with my fat loss goal. Of course that vest and those pants are the most unflattering as absolutely possible as well! It's where I'm at, and it's just a little problem to fix - with DAILY CALORIES, and all the other items in the hierarchy in the mix. I love the picture mainly because it's Randy and I doing something together we are passionate about. It's hard work, but everything I get to do, I GET to do. I'm not about to forget what it was like to be nearly crippled and that every day we get to live out our passion and achieve our goals and become our best selves is a gift. It doesn't matter that I'm not perfect, I'm living out my dreams and I can still lose that little bit of body fat and not use age and the fact that we have to do things a little differently as an excuse. We have to be more patient, we have to give up, and we still have to remind ourselves its JUST CALORIES, not all the issues we want to blame that make it harder for us to manage calories.
I'm glad I got both of those workouts in. I was tired, but it was an emotional day with the little boy kitten going to his new home. I miss him so much, but I'm happy I helped him become one of the friendliest little kittens ever!
Here is a picture of his new mom picking him up. He'll need a little time to adjust and I know he'll be fine. She named him Snow Ball! I was so happy to get this picture from the vet.
I've been working with him a lot:
It's hard, but I did my job with the kittens. We get a little kitten break for a few weeks before we start imprinting and training the next batch for the vet.
So, who is ALL IN with their life, their goals, and making it happen?
If you are in the 1st Phorm App with me send me a message there and let me know!

Roberta, I thought I am all in...it turns out I'm not!
ReplyDeleteYesterday I went on a business trip and couldn't follow my meal plan. No excuses. I ate emotionally because of anxiety and stress from work...
You've been so busy working and training! I'm happy to see you in the pictures above. What a blessing that team Saum can work together!
Thank you for the update of the boy kitten. The new owner she looks so nice. His eyes and ears are so adorable. I hope he finds bliss at his new home. You and Randy did an amazing job to take care of all the kittens and help them find a new home.
The nutrition hierarchy looks so interesting. Energy balance and calories are the KING.
Roberta, it is a constant battle for sure. I want no more 'excuses, regret, and disappointment'.
I am grateful to be able to walk with you in this journey.
Have a good night and hope you have a fantastic week!🩷🩷🩷
I assure you Mina, that happens to everyone on business trips! It happens to me too. It doesn't mean you are not all in. Getting back on track instead of giving up is being all in. You just get right back up girl, just like the rest of us!
DeleteThank you, Roberta!
DeleteYou're so right! Getting back on track instead of giving up is being all in! 🙌
I am not all in regarding fitness and nutrition. I am all in …in life!! I need to be focused more on nutrition and fitness…but it always takes the back burner. I don’t know why, but with me it’s cyclical…. I get busy with things, and suddenly it’s not a priority….
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard Netty! Me too on cyclical. I'm all in on life! Part of that is nutrition and fitness because it's integral with life, and it takes a back burner, and then I have to dig deeper and remind myself it's not good enough if I want to live life more fully.
