Momentum just right like Goldilocks

It takes 5-8 weeks to see results and build momentum. I don't say this to discourage you, but to remind you that achieving fitness goals requires tremendous consistency with both nutrition and exercise. While none of us are perfect, the majority of days every week needs to have the game plan done for real.

It requires a simple process that can often feel like it's not working and it's sometimes tedious and boring. It reminds me of riding in an airplane, you know how you can feel the speed at take off and landing, but up there at a couple thousand feet it feels like you are creeping along or not moving. Most of your journey is that slow creeping feeling even though you really are moving. You have to trust the process.

Yesterday's Livestream in the 1P App was about how to log nutrition properly.

You also need to really make sure you are truely eating the right calories and macros, with the highest nutrition possible to keep your metabolism working at its optimum. The only way to do this is to have a meal plan. The most sustainable meal plans are those you make for yourself. If you log your food as you go, without a plan, you aren't going to have the level of consistency needed for progress.

It takes time for your body to adapt to a calorie deficit. We are also a society who eats at every whim of hunger. This does not serve us well. People who live longer healthier lives don't live in this constant state of comfort. The more we seek a constant life of comfort, the more our body decays.

Yet, the level of stress must be balanced. Too much stress makes us burn out and isn't healthy either. There is no one size fits all answer. In fact, most everyone is unique. The only constant is that it requires a calorie deficit with as much nutritional value as possible to sustain losing body fat.

The more consistent you are, the more momentum you build. The more your body adapts. As you adapt and start getting results, the more you want to keep going. The more you fall in love with the process. As long as you aren't pushing so hard you get burned out. You will need to manage all the stress in your life. It's all a give and take.

It must be just right, like Goldilocks. Calories not too low, and not too high. Exercise just right, but more will happen as your body adapts.

It can feel like it's too hard and too much pain before you adapt. If you've allowed yourself too much comfort in certain areas of your life, you are adapted to that and you are going to have to push through the adaptation period until you get used to it.

People often think the don't have enough discipline or are too weak. But the truth is they need to push through the adaptation phase, and realize it's okay to feel uncomfortable or hungry, even though most of society will say it's bad. Our society seeks far too much comfort too often.

Keep working at it and never give up. Even if you are not perfect, and even if the journey is slow.

Today's Livestream was about Hannah who learned to do just that! No reason you can't do it too. It's not about being on a crazy diet or insane workout program. It's about a sustainable amount that can build, learning to adapt to uncomfortable, yet just right like Goldilocks.

Let's keep fighting 💪🏻

  1. I feel exactly the same as riding in an airplane when I think about my daily process! Roberta, thank you very much for this post! Actually I got disappointed a bit this morning because of my gaining weight. Small amount, but...I thought I ate yesterday as planned.

I believe I can fall in love with the process if I don't give up today.

Hope you have a fantastic Wednesday! 💕

    1. Yes, if we don't give up we can fall in love with the process! And keep checking our calories, sometimes eat a little less than logged or planned, especially since it's easy to eat over and not realize it. There can be weight fluctuations on the scale, but we can trust just a little less calories.
