Yesterday I baked Bran-Encrusted Levain Artisan Bread! Yum!
This is before I baked it while still in the proofing bowl. I start the levain in the morning the day before. About halfway through the day I start the final dough which takes about an hour with some breaks while doing other chores, then it does its bulk fermentation the rest of the day. In the evening before bedtime, I cut and shape the dough and put two loafs in the proofing baskets. Then I seal them in plastic and let the proof in the fridge overnight. This picture is when I take them out to bake them in the Dutch oven.
The workout was long, and I love seeing that I burned 366 calories! Even so, I have to watch those calories! It's easy to think you can eat more, but that can backfire on you if you don't keep a close eye on it! We would have burned some of those calories if we didn't do a workout, just not as many. I've seen many people, including myself, gain body fat or stay overweight even though they do great workouts every single day. If we are overweight, no matter what we do physically, it's because of excess calories we didn't need - no matter how healthy the calories are!
Healthy calories are wonderful, just eat the correct amount for your goal!
I'm happy to see that I'm making progress with my body composition but I'm not ready to jump on the body weight scale yet. I will know when it's time to check when my pants fit a certain way. I'm not even close yet, but I'm healthy and strong and I can appreciate that as I work towards my goals.
It is Monday and I'm ready for the week. Yesterday I baked some other foods to help myself stay on track this week:
I roasted some butternut squash.
And baked some chicken with seasoning.
I can have the artisan bread, I just have to weigh it out and limit how much, just like any other carb!
Along with these items I have broth, frozen vegetables, corn and flour tortillas, cheese, butter, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, and hummus. As long as the calories and macros are planned out, I can eat foods that I love and still achieve my goals.
I feel a sense of urgency about my goals. It's important to me and the sense of urgency is required in order to stay on track with nutrition. It is very easy to let the stress of life take over what I eat, just like anyone else. It's because we are all merely human. We all have to do things to create the sense of urgency if we want to keep moving forward. It doesn't mean being perfect, it means keep preparing to achieve what you want. Go about it seriously with a sense of purpose. Don't' worry about what others think, and you don't need to explain it to them. Especially since they probably won't get it!
Find people who do get it, even if it's only one person!
Just because I'm older does not mean I have to settle for what everyone else my age settles for! Never Settle!
Just because it's harder as we age, doesn't mean we have to give up. Just because we are not perfect and we sometimes fail, does not mean we have to give up. Never Give Up!
Living your dream doesn't mean life is perfect and that you will not have suffering. It merely means that you continue to do what you set out to do. That you keep yourself fully alive by striving for more and not becoming complacent. Keep your brain alive and the neurons activated by study and learning things that are hard to learn. Keep the cells in your body healthy and the mitochondria that gives you energy growing and renewing, with nutrition and exercise. Live Your Dream.
Here is one of the newest Scottish Fold kittens. This batch is super friendly and cute. They all are once we get through spoiling them. Our goal is to make them so friendly that the vet will be able to sell them to new owners and they get to go to a good home.
Whenever I'm feeling stressed out, I can go into the kitten room and instantly smile at the cuddly little sweet innocent creatures.
It is Monday again. Let's make it the best day and week ever!

ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see SweetiePea on the seat. 😽
It's getting colder outside. Winter is the hardest season. Hope we all stay safe and healthy during this toughest time.
Roberta, Thank you so much for the precious post as always!
