Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it.
The time will pass anyway.
Do you see where you want to be later this year?
I do. I am looking forward to changes by summer.
I am connecting the dots. Calories under TDEE over time.
The dates are at the bottom.
I'm not perfect. I don't have to be.
All I have to do is be ACCURATE in my accounting (very hard to do, and very easy to make mistakes if you are eating foods high in calories and hard to measure.)
Minimize eating of foods that are hard to measure.
If possible, measure out way before you need to eat.
If you wait until you are hungry, it's too late. Your willpower is weak.
Avoid temptations. Most of us can't be around it, especially when stressed, tired, hungry, etc. There is no such thing as willpower. Discipline is about saying no to going there. Discipline is setting up for success.
It's not about willpower. It's about setting up for success.
Figure it out!
Solve the problem.
Ask why you failed, then FIX it.
No one can do this except YOU.
You can ask for advise all you want. You can ask for ideas. Pretty much every idea you can think of is on the internet by now. The bottom line is that you need to do the hard steps in your life to make the changes that will make it happen. That might mean standing up to people in your life who might mean well, but they are not helping you.
I am choosing very simple recipes like I wrote about in my last post.
It's hard, but I'm fixing the problems and making the changes.
This Saturday is the 3rd of February and as weird as it may seem, that's my next weigh in day. All I want for my birthday is to see progress. The only way I will see progress is if I get that blue line on that graph consistently below the green line. The red line (exercise burn) isn't what will make it happen, but it will help give a little nudge in the right direction and make me healthier and ward off depression.
I'm working out hard, all body, until March 1st when I have my left shoulder completely replaced. Then I will focus on leg strength and cardio. If all goes well, I'll have my right shoulder replaced in June. That means I will have to wait until next year to lift weights again.
But it means that next year will be super amazing.
Time passes anyway.
Calories always matter.
I can still achieve my goals of reducing body fat this year!
I can still visualize where I want to be. I CAN ACHIEVE IT.
That's my goal.
My friend Kathy at the pool, is just a few years older than I and wants to build some muscle. SHE CAN ACHIEVE HER GOAL TOO. All she has to do is a one-hour workout 3 times a week. She can still do the swimming she loves so much. Right now, we can swim together.
We can all achieve whatever goal we want.
What is your goal?
What are you changing in your life in order to achieve it?
I will update after Saturday on how I did. Did I ever say, I DREAD getting on the body weight scale. But we have to sometimes to make sure we are heading the right direction.

Hi Roberta, the first picture is awesome! Beautiful scenery with sunshine and gorgeous you.🤩
ReplyDeleteI'm already afraid of weighing in before a gynecologist and two nurses in June.
Like you said, time passes anyway. I will be careful about measuring out food.
Hope your week is amazing!
Awww, my sweet friend Mina!!!!!! We are in this together! Let's both measure out our food!!! Be aware of what we eat. Be aware of everything we put in our bodies! Love you sweet friend. I hope all is treating you well over in South Korea! I know the pressure is there for weight management. Randy and I have been reading articles about this mentality over in many Asian cultures. I wish we had at least a little of that over here. I don't go out to eat, at all, but my friend at the pool yesterday was telling me about the amount of severely overweight people here at an all you can eat smorgasbord place, and how hard it was for them to do any movement, walking, etc. It's very sad and very unhealthy. We are too much in the opposite direction here and it makes it hard in many ways. A nice moderate middle ground would be nice!!!!!

DeleteI agree and I feel you, Roberta! We need "A nice moderate middle ground" related to weight management! There are many judgments and even staring openly here in my culture.
DeleteFlat abs without love handle is my chief goal of this year in this journey even if I dread seeing a doctor in June. In it together!
